EMNAC FOUNDATION

The EMNAC Foundation is a Ugandan registered non-governmental organization established in October 2010 and registered on March 11, 2011 under the ministry of internal affairs . The EMNAC Foundation provides vital support to HIV/AIDS infected- or affected- and cancer struck people, especially to vulnerable groups such as women and children and orphans in particular.

Our Story

how we began

As an organisation, we started in 2008 and were founded by Joe Cummiskey. Joe came out to Kampala over 14 years ago for a short trip to gain some experience about the plight of children living in the city. After remaining far beyond his initial expectations Joe went back to the UK, packed up his life, and moved to Kampala to make a career of helping the most vulnerable children who were desperately in need. After working with different agencies and charities, Joe started Uganda Hands for Hope.

In 2008, we began with just 9 children but now support over 350 children and their families through our different programmes. In all of our work, we continue to maintain the personal community involvement that has become the trademark of UHfH. We pride ourselves on having a close working relationship with our beneficiaries and for our hands-on approach to our work.

Our Values

the principles we believe in & that we live by in our work

Community-Focused

Everything we do is focused on and for the benefit of our communities, while capacity-building and supporting our staff.

Inclusiveness and diversity

We do not discriminate on the grounds of race, gender, religion or politics. We support families from a range of religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Community-Driven

We believe that the communities we support should drive the future of the organisation.

Respect

We seek to treat each other our staff and our communities with respect at all times.

Accountability

We seek to be transparent in our finances, policies and procedures. We believe in accountability to donors, staff, pupils, partners and communities.

Child-Centered

We believe in child-centered teaching, and in respect for the rights of the child.
